As part of my evaluation I got some feedback from other
students studying the same course as us but from people that didn't know me.
This way the feedback would be real as they wouldn't feel the need to be bias
because they know me. The feedback was from an a level class in east London. This
would give myself great feedback as it would be from people which are much
different to ourselves. This is because they are from an urban area and being
so close to London will be much more culturally diverse this would give us
interesting feedback as it is from people we aren't used to conversing with.
Most of the feedback was very positive liking the camera
shot types using the different lenses. They also liked the part at the
beginning of my music video where I get my camera out and start cleaning it as
it helps to create the overall impression that I was filming the filming of a
music video. There were also comments about the use of the time lapses and
shots in the car as they liked how it showed the passing of time over which the
gig took place.
Some things they thought I could improve on was that they
thought it dragged a bit with the shots at the beginning and end as it
distracted themselves from the main parts. To improve this I would reduce the
time some of the shots were on to reduce the overall running time. Another thing
that they thought could be changed was to darken the live shots as to give it a
more DIY feel which I was aiming for and they did recognise that but they
thought darkening the footage would have furthermore enhanced that. The main
improvement that the students suggested was to include more shots of the band
in the woods as they thought the live performance shots dominated the whole
video. They thought if there were more shots in the woods then the video would
have been much clearer and balanced.
The best thing that I think that came out of the students
evaluating my music video was that they thought it was an excellent real life
music video for the band and was one that the band could use to promote
themselves. This is exactly what I wanted to do because the band is made up of
my friends so as payment for letting me film them for my media piece they would
get a useable music video that not only met the marking criteria but also one
that they could use.
